 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Illinois  Senate  wish  to
 3    express  their  sincere condolences to the family and friends
 4    of William Anthony Koppi, who passed away on January 4, 2001;
 5    and

 6        WHEREAS, William Anthony Koppi was born on June 13,  1924
 7    in  Minneapolis, Minnesota to William Paul and Theresa Koppi;
 8    and

 9        WHEREAS, William Anthony Koppi was a 1942 graduate of  De
10    La  Salle High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota; he served in
11    the United States Navy, Metalsmith 1st  Class,  during  World
12    War  II on the troop transport U.S.S. Mann in the Atlantic to
13    and from North Africa and, in the Pacific, aboard the  U.S.S.
14    Ranger; and

15        WHEREAS,  William Anthony Koppi received his bachelors in
16    Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in
17    1951; he worked for Buick division of General Motors, and the
18    Lebanon (Pa.) Steel Foundry; he spent 20 years  in  New  York
19    and  Chicago with the International Nickel Company in product
20    and market development, retiring in 1977; he then started his
21    own agency selling castings in a four state area; and

22        WHEREAS, William Anthony Koppi was a faithful  member  of
23    Holy  Cross  Church in Batavia; he had a profound devotion to
24    the Blessed Mother; he faithfully  attended  daily  Mass  and
25    weekly Eucharistic Adoration; and

26        WHEREAS,  The  passing  of  William Anthony Koppi will be
27    deeply felt by all who knew and  loved  him,  especially  his
28    loving  wife  for  40  years,  Paula;  his daughter, Caroline
29    Koppi, M.D.; his brother, Joseph Koppi; his sisters,  Frances
30    (husband,  Ambrose)  Arnold,  Margaret  Koppi, and Mary Grace
31    (husband, Mel) Whelan;  and his 20 nieces  and  nephews,  and

 1    their families; therefore, be it

 2        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE NINETY-SECOND GENERAL
 3    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along  with
 4    all  who  knew  him,  the  death  of William Anthony Koppi of
 5    Batavia, Illinois; and be it further

 6        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 7    presented to the family of William Anthony Koppi.
