1 AN ACT regarding vehicles.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5 adding Section 7-103 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/7-103 new)
7 Sec. 7-103. Dangerous intersection study.
8 (a) The Department shall conduct an annual study of all
9 intersections throughout this State to determine the 100 most
10 dangerous intersections. The criteria the Department shall
11 use to determine the most dangerous intersections includes,
12 but is not limited to, the following:
13 (1) the number of motor vehicle accidents at each
14 intersection;
15 (2) the number of pedestrians injured at each
16 intersection;
17 (3) the number of deaths and the number of personal
18 injuries that occur as a result of an accident at each
19 intersection; and
20 (4) the number of motor vehicles and the number of
21 pedestrians that use each intersection on a daily
22 average.
23 (b) The Department shall, upon the conclusion of its
24 annual study to determine the 100 most dangerous
25 intersections in the State, report its findings of the 100
26 most dangerous intersections in the State to the Speaker of
27 the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate
28 and explain what measures the Department has taken to
29 ameliorate the problems at each intersection.
