1 AN ACT concerning energy efficiency in State-funded
2 construction.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
6 Energy Efficient Construction Act.
7 Section 5. Promotion of energy efficiency. Any new
8 construction or renovation of an existing building or
9 structure funded or financed, in whole or in part, by the
10 State of Illinois must incorporate products designed to
11 maximize energy efficiency in the building or structure. The
12 value of the products must be at least 1% of the amount of
13 funding or financing provided by the State.
14 Section 10. The Illinois Procurement Code is amended by
15 adding Section 30-50 as follows:
16 (30 ILCS 500/30-50 new)
17 Sec. 30-50. Promotion of energy efficiency. A
18 construction contract subject to this Code must require that
19 products designed to maximize energy efficiency must be
20 incorporated into the building or facility undergoing
21 construction or renovation. The value of the products must
22 be at least 1% of the amount of the funding or financing
23 provided by the State.
24 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
25 becoming law.
