 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are honored to recognize milestone events in
 4    the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come  to  our  attention  that  Rosie  M.
 6    Crivens  is  retiring  from her duties with the Department of
 7    Children and Family Services after 26  years  of  service  on
 8    September 27, 2002; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Rosie  M.  Crivens  has  faithfully  served the
10    Department of Children and Family Services from 1976 to 2002;
11    during which time, she has  held  various  positions  from  a
12    Receptionist, Accounts Clerk, Office Associate, Office Clerk,
13    and  Office Coordinator with numerous DCFS Offices throughout
14    Chicago; and

15        WHEREAS, While employed with the State of Illinois, Rosie
16    M. Crivens returned to the pursuit of  Higher  Education  and
17    enrolled at Chicago State University in 1987; while raising a
18    family,  working, and attending Chicago State University, she
19    maintained a 4.0 grade point average, made  the  Dean's  List
20    every  semester,  and  went on to graduate with honors in the
21    top ten percent of her class in 1991; and

22        WHEREAS,  Rosie  M.  Crivens  was  born  in   Greenville,
23    Mississippi  to  George  and Matilda Dillard; she migrated to
24    Memphis, Tennessee, where she attended Douglas Elementary and
25    Douglas High School and where she met her  soul  mate,  Algie
26    Lee  Crivens,  Jr.,  an  Industrial  Engineer; the couple was
27    married in 1962  and  moved  to  Chicago,  where  she  gained
28    employment  at  Speigal until 1964; she was later employed at
29    Victor Dana Corp. until 1971, when she resigned  to  take  on
30    the  duties  of  a  full  time mother and wife; continuing to
31    expand her mind and skills, Mrs. Crivens enrolled  in  Dawson
32    Technical   for  typing  and  business,  where  she  met  two

 1    wonderful  friends,  Margaret  Person  and  Ann  Taylor,  who
 2    introduced her to  the  Department  of  Children  and  Family
 3    Services; and

 4        WHEREAS,  Algie and Rosie Crivens have three children and
 5    six grandchildren; their son,  Sgt.  Richard  N.  Crivens  is
 6    currently  a  15-year  veteran of the United States Air Force
 7    and the husband of Sgt. Lashinya Crivens and  the  father  of
 8    Rashun  Crivens;  their  son,  Algie  L.  Crivens, is a Human
 9    Service Caseworker with the Department of Human Services  and
10    has  two  children  by  Cynthia  Patterson, Derrick and Ahmad
11    Ishmael Crivens; and daughter, Alicia L. Crivens, is a  Child
12    Care  Provider  and  Medical  Assistant  and  the  mother  of
13    Trey-von, Antoine, and James; and

14        WHEREAS,  On  September 29, 2002, family and friends will
15    celebrate the 26-year  career  and  retirement  of  Rosie  M.
16    Crivens; therefore, be it

17        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
18    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19    we congratulate Rosie M. Crivens on her retirement  after  26
20    years  of  service with the Department of Children and Family
21    Services and we wish her well in all of her future endeavors;
22    and be it further

23        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
24    presented to Rosie M. Crivens as an expression of our esteem.
