 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The  institution  of  marriage  is  one  of  the
 3    cornerstones  upon which our society is built, and a marriage
 4    that has achieved a notable longevity is truly  a  model  for
 5    the people of the State of Illinois; and

 6        WHEREAS,  It  has come to our attention that Mr. and Mrs.
 7    Richard  Labek  of  Chicago,  Illinois,  will  celebrate  the
 8    fiftieth anniversary of their marriage; and

 9        WHEREAS, Richard V. Labek  and  Joan  S.  Stefanski  were
10    united  in  holy  matrimony  on  September  27,  1952 at Holy
11    Trinity Catholic Church in Chicago; and

12        WHEREAS, A 1950 graduate  of  Holy  Family  Academy  High
13    School,  Joan  Labek  worked as a gift wrapper designing demo
14    packages for Marshall Field's window displays on State Street
15    from 1950 to 1952 and served as a secretary for the Milwaukee
16    Railroad from 1952 to 1954; since 1964, she has enjoyed  life
17    as  a  mother,  wife, and homemaker and takes pleasure in the
18    planning of family events and creating lasting memories; and

19        WHEREAS, A 1945 graduate  of  St.  Patrick  High  School,
20    Richard  Labek  served his country during World War II in the
21    United States Army; during his  service  he  trained  in  the
22    Cavalry,  trained  in  the  Horse  Rifle  Pack  Division, and
23    transferred  as  a  Technician  Fourth  Grade  Rating   Armor
24    Mechanic;  after  being  discharged from the Army in 1947, he
25    went on to earn a degrees  at  Coyne  Electrical  School  and
26    DeVry Institute of Technology; and

27        WHEREAS,  From 1947 to 1970, Mr. Labek owned a television
28    and radio repair business; he has been employed since 1970 as
29    an Electrical Operator for the Water Reclamation District  of
30    Greater Chicago, where he has served for 30 years without the
31    use   of  "sick  days";  Mr.  Labek  enjoys  creating  family

 1    keepsakes,  gardening,   woodcarving,   repairing   religious
 2    artifacts, and being a devoted husband and father; and

 3        WHEREAS, Richard and Joan Labek are the loving parents of
 4    Richard   (wife,   Janice)   Labek,   Donna  (husband,  Mark)
 5    Contreras, and Michael Labek; and the grandparents of Joseph,
 6    Matthew, and Michael Labek and Curtis, Jessica, Peter,  Marc,
 7    David, and Jacob Contreras; and

 8        WHEREAS,  The  respect  for  marriage  reaches one of its
 9    highest plateaus when a couple such as Richard and Joan Labek
10    celebrate their golden wedding anniversary; and

11        WHEREAS, Richard and Joan Labek stand as examples of  the
12    best  of  our  society,  and  their love and devotion to each
13    other and to their family and friends serve as a reminder  to
14    all   that  hard  work,  dedication,  and  love  can  make  a
15    difference in today's world; therefore, be it

16        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
17    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18    we  congratulate  Richard  and  Joan Labek on the occasion of
19    their fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them  for
20    achieving  a  long  and happy marriage, blessed with children
21    and grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that  we  wish
22    them  happiness  and  good  health  in  the future; and be it
23    further

24        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
25    presented  to  Richard and Joan Labek as an expression of our
26    respect and esteem.
