1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are proud to recognize the outstanding
4 achievements in high school athletics in the State of
5 Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Olympia
7 High School Spartans won State Championships at the 2002 IHSA
8 Class A Boys Baseball Tournament and Girls Softball
9 Tournament; and
10 WHEREAS, The head coach of the Olympia varsity baseball
11 team is Ron Smith, and the assistant coaches are Mike Hayes,
12 Scott Thornton, Mark Finchum, and Patrick Hewitt; and
13 WHEREAS, The members of the varsity baseball team are
14 Dustin Hayes, Trevor Smith, Cullen Hayes, Neil Birky, Derek
15 Foley, Nathaniel Eaton, Tyler Egli, Rush Olson, Cole Horner,
16 Tyler Thornton, Ryan Kendrick, Christopher Frank, Cameron
17 Cheek, Lance Leesman, Tyler Haning, Ryne Sherman, Steven
18 Raleigh, and Jeffrey Darnall; and Alex Kashner is the team
19 statistician; and
20 WHEREAS, The head coach of the varsity softball team is
21 Al Toliver, and the assistant coaches are Jeff Gaither, Rod
22 Dale, and Nancy Lindenfelser; and
23 WHEREAS, The members of the varsity softball team are
24 Amber Lessen, Amber Darnall, Erin Canopy, Mallory Toliver,
25 Kami Logsdon, Rebecca Hieser, Jessica Shay, Tiffany Prager,
26 Hilary Shaffer, Amanda Wilson, Katie Tucker, Tricia Gaither,
27 Alisha Brand, Brandi Short, Amanda Tammeus, Megan Rich, Megan
28 Westerfield, and Melissa Crabtree; and Katie Shifflet is the
29 team statistician; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
31 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we congratulate the Olympia High School Spartan varsity
2 baseball and varsity softball teams on their outstanding
3 seasons culminating in State Championships at the 2002 IHSA
4 Class A Boys Baseball Tournament and Girls Softball
5 Tournament; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Olympia High School as an expression of our
8 esteem.
