1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are proud to congratulate Robert E. Evans of
4 the Mount Greenwood neighborhood in Chicago on becoming the
5 Mt. Greenwood Civic Association's Man of the Year for 2002;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Evans married Margaret R. Riegel and moved
8 to Mount Greenwood in 1976; he has served the citizens of
9 Chicago since 1971 as a Chicago police officer, detective,
10 sergeant, lieutenant, and now captain; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Evans graduated with distinction in 1995
12 from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science
13 Degree in organization behavior and was inducted into the
14 Alpha chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, a national honor society
15 for evening colleges of liberal arts; he went on to graduate
16 school at Saint Xavier University, earned a Master of
17 Business Administration Degree in 1999, and was inducted into
18 Kappa Gamma Pi, a national graduate honor society; Mr. Evans
19 was bestowed the H.J. Hwang Award for academic excellence,
20 having earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average; and
21 WHEREAS, Mr. Evans is a former member and past president
22 of the St. Christina School Board, Co-Chairman of the St.
23 Christina Parish Advisory Committee, Vice-Chairman of the St.
24 Christina Parish Pastoral Council, a committee member of the
25 St. Christina Summerfest, a member of the St. Christina
26 Athletic Association, and an Executive Board Committee member
27 of the St. Christina Holy Name Society; he serves as
28 Enlistment Director of the St. Christina Building on Our
29 Blessings Committee, a member of the wake committee for the
30 Marist High School Father's Club, a Capital Project Fund and
31 Family Mass Committee member for Marist High School, and a
32 member of Fr. Perez Council #1444 of the Knights of Columbus;

2 WHEREAS, Mr. Evans has done volunteer work for various
3 events and activities, including weekly bingo, the Lenten
4 fish fry, the parish census, the St. Christina Trac-a-Thon,
5 the Giving Tree Project, and St. Christina Home-School
6 Association theme breakfasts; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9 we congratulate Robert E. Evans on becoming the Mt. Greenwood
10 Civic Association's 2002 Man of the Year and wish him all the
11 best in his future endeavors; and be it further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Robert Evans as an expression of our esteem.
