 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are  proud  to recognize milestone events in
 4    the lives of the citizens of this State; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our  attention  that  Richard  M.
 6    Thrasher  of  Springfield will retire as Williamsville Middle
 7    School Principal on June 14, 2002; and

 8        WHEREAS, Richard M. Thrasher was born  May  5,  1946,  in
 9    Springfield  to Richard F. Thrasher and Dorothea M. Thrasher;
10    he attended Ridgely Grade School and graduated from  Lanphier
11    High  School;  in  1969,  Mr. Thrasher earned his Bachelor of
12    Arts degree from Southern Illinois University at  Carbondale;
13    in  1974,  he  earned his Master of Arts degree from Sangamon
14    State University; and

15        WHEREAS, Mr. Thrasher started teaching in 1969 as  a  6th
16    Grade self-contained class room teacher at Sherman Elementary
17    School  in  Williamsville  School  District  #15; in 1974, he
18    became the Junior High and  Elementary  School  Principal  of
19    Williamsville Jr. High, Williamsville Elementary, and Sherman
20    Elementary  Schools;  from 1978 to 2000, Mr. Thrasher was the
21    principal  of  Sherman  Elementary,  and  from  2000  to  the
22    present,  he  has  been  the  Williamsville   Middle   School
23    Principal; and

24        WHEREAS,   Mr.  Thrasher  served  on  the  North  Central
25    Evaluation Committee in 1986 and was a member  of  the  State
26    Board  Accreditation  Team  for the University of Illinois in
27    1990;  he  served  on  the  curriculum  development,  teacher
28    evaluation,   referendum,   and   building   committees    in
29    Williamsville  School  District  #15  from  1976 to 2001; Mr.
30    Thrasher was the District  Administrative  representative  on
31    the  Local  Professional  Development Committee for 2000/2001
32    and 2001/2002; from 1977  to  1978  and  2001  to  2002,  Mr.

 1    Thrasher  was President of the Sangamon County Schoolmasters;
 2    and

 3        WHEREAS, Though Richard Thrasher had originally wanted to
 4    study for dentistry, he decided that  his  real  passion  was
 5    teaching,  as  did many members of his family; he has enjoyed
 6    his experience as principal in Williamsville School  District
 7    #15, and is held in high regard by all those who know him; in
 8    his honor, May 28, 2002, is being named "Mr. Thrasher Day" at
 9    Williamsville Middle School; and

10        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Thrasher  is  married  to Jean and has two
11    children, Tony and Kelly, to whom he has  devoted  much  time
12    and  effort  in  both school and extra curricular activities;
13    and

14        WHEREAS, Mr. Thrasher enjoys his gun  collection  and  is
15    active  in  various  gun  shows  around  the  State; he looks
16    forward to his retirement, which will  allow  him  to  pursue
17    other things he is interested in; and

18        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
19    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20    we congratulate Richard M. Thrasher  of  Springfield  on  his
21    retirement  as  Principal  of Williamsville Middle School and
22    his years of service to Williamsville  School  District  #15,
23    and  we wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and be
24    it further

25        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
26    presented  to  Richard  M.  Thrasher  as an expression of our
27    esteem.
