1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are honored to recognize milestone events in
4 the history of organizations in the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Lemont
6 chapter of the Lions Club is celebrating its 40th anniversary
7 on May 11, 2002; and
8 WHEREAS, The Lemont Lions Club was formed on June 7, 1962
9 and chartered on October 28, 1962; and
10 WHEREAS, Since 1962, the Lemont Lions Club has served the
11 residents of Lemont through hard work and commitment to make
12 a difference in the lives of people everywhere; they have
13 provided moneys annually to open pantries, provided exams,
14 eyeglasses, and hearing aids to the needy, sponsored DARE
15 programs annually with coloring books, donated funds towards
16 signs in Lemont, created a shelter in General Frys landing,
17 and participated in Canal Cleanup Day, Heritage Fest,
18 Keepataw Days, St. Patrick's Day, and the Classic Car Rally;
19 and
20 WHEREAS, The Lemont Lions Club has provided assistance to
21 victims of house fires, accidents, and illness, and offered
22 cleanup services and assistance to residents affected by
23 tornado damage in 1976 and 1991; in addition, the Lions Club
24 sponsors little league teams, donates annually to the girl
25 and boy scouts, and provides scholarships to area high
26 schools; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we congratulate the Lemont Lions Club on the celebration of
30 its 40th anniversary of service to the residents of Lemont;
31 and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the Lemont Lions Club as an expression of our
3 esteem.
