1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to recognize notable achievements of
4 citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that J. Paul Deaton
6 was the recent recipient of the Jefferson County Chamber of
7 Commerce Student of the Year Award; and
8 WHEREAS, A student at Mt. Vernon Township High School, J.
9 Paul Deaton began his community service at the age of five,
10 becoming active in sports; he has participated in Youth Works
11 Mission Trips, American Red Cross Blood Drives, Angels on
12 Assignment, Habitat for Humanity, Cedarhurst Craft Fair, the
13 city-wide clean-up, Christmas Baskets for the Needy, Special
14 Olympics, and Toys for Tots; in addition, he served as a
15 basketball referee for DARE 3 on 3, and has participated in
16 several YMCA and church activities; and
17 WHEREAS, J. Paul Deaton has been active in Student
18 Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes during his four
19 years at Mt. Vernon Township High School; he has also
20 participated in Youth and Government, WITT (We're in This
21 Together), the freshman orientation committee, the A Capella
22 Choir, varsity basketball, the high school operetta, and the
23 National Honor Society; and
24 WHEREAS, J. Paul Deaton plans for the future include
25 focusing on the health care field at a four-year university;
26 he is the son of Bill and Becky Deaton; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we congratulate J. Paul Deaton on receiving the Jefferson
30 County Chamber of Commerce Student of the Year Award; and be
31 it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to J. Paul Deaton as an expression of our esteem.
