1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are proud to recognize significant events in
4 the lives of the citizens of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Jenna Rowell,
6 an esteemed resident of Morton and a student at Morton High
7 School, has achieved national recognition for exemplary
8 volunteer service by receiving a 2002 Prudential Spirit of
9 Community Award; and
10 WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential
11 Financial in partnership with the National Association of
12 Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across
13 America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to
14 serving their communities; and
15 WHEREAS, Ms. Rowell earned this award by giving
16 generously of her time and energy coordinating a bowling
17 tournament that raised more than $500 to support St. Jude
18 Children's Hospital; and
19 WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the
20 strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of
21 American society depend, in great measure, upon the
22 dedication of young people like Ms. Rowell who use their
23 considerable talents and resources to serve others;
24 therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
27 we congratulate and honor Ms. Rowell as a recipient of a
28 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; recognize her
29 outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and
30 community spirit; and extend best wishes for her continued
31 success and happiness; and be it further

1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to Ms. Rowell of Morton as an expression of our
3 esteem.
