1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Child abuse prevention is a community problem
3 and finding solutions depends on involvement among people
4 throughout the community, including the courts; and
5 WHEREAS, Illinois' child abuse prevention efforts have
6 caused a decrease in child abuse statistics in recent years;
7 the number of reported child abuse cases of 100,418 last year
8 continues to highlight the need for the support of child
9 abuse prevention programs and public awareness; and
10 WHEREAS, The effects of child abuse are felt by whole
11 communities and need to be addressed by the entire community;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, Effective child abuse prevention programs
14 succeed because of partnerships created among the courts,
15 social service agencies, schools, religious organizations,
16 law enforcement agencies, and the business community; and
17 WHEREAS, Parents Care & Share, a prevention program of
18 Children's Home & Aid Society of Illinois, offers positive
19 alternatives to help break the cycle of abuse and is
20 sponsoring Illinois' Blue Bow Campaign to heighten awareness
21 of the need to support families; and
22 WHEREAS, All citizens should become more aware of child
23 abuse and its prevention within the community and become
24 involved in supporting parents to raise their children in a
25 safe, nurturing environment; therefore, be it
26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we recognize and designate April as Child Abuse Prevention
29 Month and call upon all citizens to increase their
30 participation in efforts to prevent child abuse, thereby
31 strengthening the communities in which we live; and be it

2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to Parents Care & Share of Children's Home & Aid
4 Society of Illinois and their Blue Bow Campaign Partners.
