 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The highest award the National  Council  of  the
 3    Boy  Scouts  of  America  can  bestow upon a Scout is that of
 4    Eagle Scout; and

 5        WHEREAS, Timothy B. Schwartz, Jr. of Trails West  Council
 6    of  the Boy Scout Troop 1226, in Troy, will receive the Eagle
 7    Scout Award at a Court of Honor to be held  on  February  24,
 8    2002, at the First Baptist Church of Edwardsville; and

 9        WHEREAS,  T.J.  is  currently  a  sophomore at TRIAD High
10    School in Troy, Illinois, where he is active on  the  Student
11    Council  and a member of the Triad High School Football Team,
12    Basketball Team, and the Track and Field Team; he is also the
13    first chair tenor saxophone  in  the  school  band,  and  has
14    played  in the marching band, concert band, and jazz band; he
15    does all of this while maintaining a grade point  average  of
16    3.5  on  a 4.0 scale; in his spare time, T.J. volunteers with
17    the Boy Scouts and is the assistant basketball coach for  his
18    younger  brother's  5th  grade  basketball  team,  the Little
19    Knights; and

20        WHEREAS, In order to qualify as an Eagle Scout,  a  young
21    man  must  demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, a
22    willingness to be of help to others, and superior  skills  in
23    camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and

24        WHEREAS,  In  earning this high rank, T.J. joins an elite
25    and honorable fraternity of achievers that counts  among  its
26    members  an  extraordinary  number  of  this  nation's  great
27    leaders in business, government, education, and other sectors
28    of society; and

29        WHEREAS,  The  achievement  of  the  rank  of Eagle Scout
30    reflects favorably  upon  the  recipient,  his  justly  proud
31    family, his Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; therefore, be

 2        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 3    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 4    we join his family and friends in congratulating  Timothy  B.
 5    Schwartz,  Jr. upon attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout
 6    and commend him upon the unswerving dedication to  excellence
 7    that is the hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it further

 8        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 9    presented to Eagle Scout  Timothy  B.  Schwartz,  Jr.  as  an
10    expression of our respect and esteem.
