1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are honored to recognize significant
4 milestones in the lives of the people of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Jane Ising of
6 Peoria is celebrating the one-hundredth anniversary of her
7 birth; and
8 WHEREAS, Jane Ising was born on February 2, 1902 in
9 Germany, earned her Ph.D. in economics at the University of
10 Berlin in 1926, and married the handsome and renowned Dr.
11 Ernest Ising on December 23, 1930; and
12 WHEREAS, The Isings immigrated to the United States and
13 became citizens, along with their son, Dr. Tom Ising, in
14 1953; and
15 WHEREAS, Jane Ising's remarkable life has included being
16 one of the founding members of Planned Parenthood in
17 Illinois; she is a Charter Member of the 1897 Associates
18 Society at Bradley University and has taught for 19 years at
19 the institution; Jane Ising has been the chair of the
20 Environmental Quality Committee, League of Women Voters; and
21 she is on the YWCA Honor list for 25 years of service; and
22 WHEREAS, Mrs. Ising has always been able to communicate
23 with her friends, family, and the world with not only words
24 but also love, dedicating herself to establishing and
25 supporting organizations that benefit communities and their
26 interaction with each other; through her generosity and
27 foresight, the Ising Youth Development Fund was established
28 in 1994 for the support and extension of youth programming
29 and education; and
30 WHEREAS, Dr. Jane Ising is the proud mother of Dr. Tom
31 Ising, whose wife is Carol, and grandmother of their two

1 sons; now, therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4 we congratulate Dr. Jane Ising of Peoria on the occasion of
5 her one-hundredth birthday and extend to her our sincere best
6 wishes for the future; and be it further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Jane Ising as an expression of our respect and
9 esteem.
