 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  wish to express their sincere condolences to
 4    the family and friends of Barbara Elizabeth Young, who passed
 5    away on January 27, 2002; and

 6        WHEREAS, Barbara Elizabeth Young  was  born  in  Chicago,
 7    Illinois  on  April 20, 1926, the second of six children born
 8    to John and Carrie Hughes; and

 9        WHEREAS, Mrs. Young received her education in Chicago  at
10    McCosh Elementary and Englewood High School; and

11        WHEREAS,  Barbara  Young  was  united  in  marriage  with
12    Clarence  B.  Young,  Sr.,  who preceded her in death, and to
13    this union two children were born, Clarence, Jr. and Anthony;
14    and

15        WHEREAS, Over a period of approximately  50  years,  Mrs.
16    Young  was  employed  in some of the most prestigious Lounges
17    and  Nightclubs  on  Chicago's   Southside,   including   the
18    Rhumboogie,  411 Supper Club, Lurlean Hunter's Show Club, and
19    the Shelter Lounge; during  this  time  she  met  and  became
20    friends  with many notable entertainers such as Count Baisie,
21    Lurlean  Hunter,  Arthur  Prysock,  Johnnie  Hartman,   Sarah
22    Vaughn, and Billy Eckstine; and

23        WHEREAS,  The  passing of Barbara Elizabeth Young will be
24    deeply felt by all who knew and  loved  her,  especially  her
25    loving  and  devoted  significant  other of 43 years, Leon J.
26    Toney;  her  sons,  Clarence  Jr.   (Tressie)   and   Anthony
27    (Darthula);  her  grandsons,  Wesley,  David  (Desiree),  and
28    Kenneth; her granddaugther, Barbara; her great grandchildren,
29    Tiffany and Khiry; her sister, Maisie (Calvin); her brothers,
30    Leon   (Gwen),   James,   and   Thomas   Sr.   (Aloma);   her
31    sister-in-law, Wanda; her nieces, Monyette (David) and Julie;

 1    her nephews, Alfred Jr., Anthony (Dorisalene), and Thomas Jr.
 2    (Julie);  and  a  host  of  relatives  and  special  friends;
 3    therefore, be it

 4        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 5    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 6    we mourn, along with all who knew her, the death  of  Barbara
 7    Elizabeth Young of Chicago, Illinois; and be it further

 8        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 9    presented to the family of Barbara Elizabeth Young  with  our
10    sincere condolences.
