 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The highest award the National  Council  of  the
 3    Boy  Scouts  of  America  can  bestow upon a Scout is that of
 4    Eagle Scout; and

 5        WHEREAS, Joshua Erik Tucker of Boy  Scout  Troop  #5,  in
 6    Decatur,  Illinois,  recently received the Eagle Scout Award;
 7    and

 8        WHEREAS, In order to qualify as an Eagle Scout,  a  young
 9    man  must  demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, a
10    willingness to be of help to others, and superior  skills  in
11    camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and

12        WHEREAS,  Joshua was elected to the Order of the Arrow in
13    1998, an exclusive branch of the Boy  Scouts  of  America  to
14    which  a  scout  is  elected  by  other  scouts;  since being
15    elected, he has earned the rank of Brotherhood and serves  on
16    the  Ceremonies  Team;  in  addition, he became CPR certified
17    through scouting and has taken courses in  scuba  diving  and
18    became   certified   in  scuba  diving  by  the  Professional
19    Association of Diving Instructors; and

20        WHEREAS, In 2000, Joshua served  at  Boy  Scout  Camp  as
21    Lakefront  Staff,  and  in 2001, he served as the Director of
22    the Lakefront, overseeing all the  Lakefront  staff,  badges,
23    recreation, and other activities; and

24        WHEREAS, In earning this high rank, Joshua joins an elite
25    and  honorable  fraternity of achievers that counts among its
26    members  an  extraordinary  number  of  this  nation's  great
27    leaders in business, government, education, and other sectors
28    of society; and

29        WHEREAS, The achievement  of  the  rank  of  Eagle  Scout
30    reflects  favorably  upon  the  recipient,  his  justly proud
31    family, his Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; therefore, be

 2        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
 3    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 4    we  join his family and friends in congratulating Joshua Erik
 5    Tucker upon attaining the coveted rank  of  Eagle  Scout  and
 6    commend him upon the unswerving dedication to excellence that
 7    is the hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it further

 8        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 9    presented to Eagle Scout Joshua Erik Tucker as an  expression
10    of our respect and esteem.
