1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to
4 the family and friends of Vallie Ree Williams, who passed
5 away on March 6, 2001; and
6 WHEREAS, Vallie Ree Williams was born on September 21,
7 1917 in Pope, Mississippi; she was one of five children to
8 the late James Arthur and Louvisa Curry; and
9 WHEREAS, Vallie Ree Williams was a member of St. Luke's
10 Church of Jonestown, Mississippi for many years; after
11 relocating to Chicago, she became a member of St. John's
12 Baptist Church, and later, the First Baptist Congregational
13 Church; in addition, she was active with the Southern
14 Christian Leadership Conference and participated in freedom
15 marches in the south; and
16 WHEREAS, Vallie Ree Williams worked for Culinary Foods
17 and was a member of the United Commercial Food Workers Union;
18 and
19 WHEREAS, The passing of Vallie Ree Williams is deeply
20 felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her children,
21 Charley Hardy, Jr., Virginia Williams, Johnnie Williams,
22 Vallie Allen, Minnie Moss, Edna Harris, Diana Strong, and
23 Darlena Burnett; her grandchildren, Oneida, Dorthia, Johnnie,
24 Joseph, Omar, Philander, Nicole, Shalanda, Tasha, Charles,
25 Marquis, George, Darius, and (lil) Walter; her niece, Annie
26 Shaw; her great-nieces, Lisa Marion, Patricia, Doris,
27 Laverne, and Rochelle; her 15 great-grandchildren; her 4
28 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces,
29 nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
30 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
31 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1 we mourn, along with all who knew her, the death of Vallie
2 Ree Williams of Chicago, Illinois; and be it further
3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to the family of Vallie Ree Williams with our
5 sincere condolences.
