1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are honored to recognize milestone dates in
4 the history of organizations in the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Bartlett
6 Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 25th anniversary in
7 the year 2002; and
8 WHEREAS, Plans for a business association were begun in
9 1976 by a group of interested, active business people from
10 the Bartlett area; their plans became a reality when the
11 Bartlett Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1977; and
12 WHEREAS, By 1978, the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce
13 membership roster included 45 local businesses, of which 14
14 remain members; the Bartlett Chamber has swelled its
15 membership ranks to 320 businesses with companies from a one
16 person base to major corporations in the area that have
17 hundreds of employees; and
18 WHEREAS, Originally, the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce
19 formed with concerns for business activities and community
20 affairs and began with objectives such as sustainable
21 economic growth, economic health of the community, jobs,
22 communication with the community, community image, preserving
23 free enterprise, legislative activity and political action,
24 resources for businesses, bridging consumerism and the
25 business community, community leadership, serving as a
26 catalyst of life in the community, and development of
27 community leadership; and
28 WHEREAS, As it moves into the next generation of economic
29 activities, the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce continues to
30 serve its businesses through many of these same objectives,
31 increasing and enhancing benefits and services to its members

1 while working for the overall health of the community;
2 therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5 we congratulate the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce on the
6 celebration of its 25th anniversary of service to the
7 Bartlett area and wish it continued growth and success; and
8 be it further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to David Kirkby, the President of the Bartlett
11 Chamber of Commerce.
