 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives are pleased to recognize notable achievements
 4    in high school sports; and

 5        WHEREAS,   The   Mater  Dei  High  School  Girls  Varsity
 6    Volleyball Team, the Lady Knights, won the IHSA State Class A
 7    Girls Volleyball Championship held in the  Redbird  Arena  in
 8    Normal, Illinois on November 10, 2001; and

 9        WHEREAS,  The Lady Knights met the challenge by defeating
10    the Lady Redskins of Huntley High School in the quarterfinals
11    by scores of 15-5 and 17-15; they then went on to defeat  the
12    Augusta  Southeastern  Suns  in  the  semifinals by scores of
13    15-12 and 15-6; finally, they defeated the Quincy Notre  Dame
14    Lady Raiders in the finals by scores of 15-8 and 15-7, giving
15    Mater Dei High School its fifth state volleyball title; and

16        WHEREAS,  The  team  members  are  Abbey Quitmeyer, Sarah
17    Winkeler, Christa Eversgerd, Katy Vaninger, Katrina Niemeyer,
18    Meredith Bruegge, Erica  Haukap,  Katie  Grapperhaus,  Vanesa
19    Huelsmann,  Rachael  Hegger,  Jen  Spihlman,  Kelly Niemeyer,
20    Tricia Winter, Ellen Bruegge, and Sarah Beer; their coach  is
21    Fred Rakers and their assistant coach is Kate Walsh; the team
22    ended  the  season  with a record of 35 wins, 7 losses, and 1
23    tie; therefore, be it

24        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
25    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
26    we  congratulate  the  Mater  Dei  High  School Girls Varsity
27    Volleyball Team on winning the 2001 IHSA State Class A  Girls
28    Volleyball Championship; and be it further

29        RESOLVED,  That  suitable  copies  of  this resolution be
30    presented to Dennis A. Litteken, the principal of  Mater  Dei
31    High  School,  coach Fred Rakers, assistant coach Kate Walsh,
