 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are pleased to recognize milestone events in
 4    the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our  attention  that  Barbara  J.
 6    Hildreth  is  retiring after 37 years in the education field;
 7    and

 8        WHEREAS, Barbara J. Hildreth, the daughter  of  the  late
 9    John  and Thelma Palmer of Carbondale, Illinois, received her
10    bachelor's  degree  at  Jackson  State  University  and   her
11    master's degree from National Louis University; and

12        WHEREAS,  During  her  37-year  career,  Barbara Hildreth
13    received the Red Apple Teacher  Award  from  Rockford  School
14    District  #205,  was  a  Golden  Apple  Nominee for Winnebago
15    County, was listed in the 1988 edition  of  Who's  Who  Among
16    Black  Americans,  and  was  voted  Most  Popular  Teacher at
17    Lincoln Park Elementary School in Rockford, Illinois; and

18        WHEREAS, Barbara J. Hildreth is involved  in  many  civic
19    organizations,  including  the NAACP, the National Council of
20    Negro Women, the National Alliance of Black School Educators,
21    Provident Baptist Church, Beta Pi Sigma and Delta Sigma Theta
22    sororities, and the American Association of University Women;
23    she served on the  Winnebago  County  Health  Board  and  the
24    Little  People  Place  Day  Care  Board,  is  a  volunteer at
25    Rockford Memorial  Hospital,  and  is  a  precinct  committee
26    person; and

27        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
28    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29    we congratulate Barbara J. Hildreth on her  retirement  after
30    an  outstanding  37-year career in the field of education and
31    we wish her well in all of her future endeavors;  and  be  it

 2        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 3    presented to Barbara J. Hildreth  as  an  expression  of  our
 4    esteem.
