1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Robert Yeazel
6 has retired as the superintendent of the Jamaica School
7 District; and
8 WHEREAS, Robert Yeazel is a 1964 graduate of Jamaica High
9 School; he earned his bachelor's degree from Southern
10 Illinois University at Carbondale, his master's degree from
11 the University of Illinois, and an advanced specialist degree
12 in educational administration from Eastern Illinois
13 University; and
14 WHEREAS, Robert Yeazel began his teaching career at ABL
15 High school where he served as a teacher and coach for three
16 years; he served as a teacher and coach at Lincoln-Way High
17 School in New Lenox for three years; he then served as a
18 teacher, coach and principal at St. Joseph-Ogden High School
19 for ten years and finally as superintendent of the Jamaica
20 School District and principal at Jamaica High School for the
21 past seventeen years; and
22 WHEREAS, Under his leadership, Robert Yeazel helped to
23 construct a new library, gymnasium and additions to the
24 cafeteria and the elementary school at the Jamaica campus; in
25 addition he helped to expand the all-day kindergarten, build
26 two computer labs and an elementary music room, and construct
27 the Children at Risk Educationally classroom and Trainably
28 Mentally Handicapped rooms for the southern part of Vermilion
29 County; and
30 WHEREAS, Robert Yeazel also served as a big supporter of
31 the Salt Fork cooperative sports agreement with Catlin High

1 School that has resulted in more kids playing sports in
2 Vermilion County; and
3 WHEREAS, Robert Yeazel has provided a dedicated and
4 committed service in order to give the young residents of
5 Vermilion County the best education; and
6 WHEREAS, Robert Yeazel will be spending some of his time
7 in retirement on his rental property in St. Joseph, where he
8 enjoys remodeling houses; therefore, be it
9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11 we congratulate Robert Yeazel on his retirement from service
12 as superintendent of the Jamaica School District for the past
13 seventeen years and we wish him well in all of his future
14 endeavors; and be it further
15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to Robert Yeazel as an expression of our esteem.
