1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are honored to recognize the outstanding
4 achievements in the lives of the citizens of the State of
5 Illinois; and
6 WHEREAS, Blouke Carus was named the 2001 Manufacturing
7 Man of the Year by the Manufacturing Technology and
8 Management Program at the Illinois Institute of Technology;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, Blouke Carus is the chairman of Carus
11 Corporation and Carus Publishing Co. of Peru; he established
12 the children's magazine group known as Cricket with his wife,
13 Marianne, in 1973; and
14 WHEREAS, His lifelong commitment to education through his
15 work in publishing has led to active involvement with many
16 notable groups; he has received a presidential appointment to
17 the National Council on Education Research; he has chaired
18 the Illinois Manufacturers Association's Education Committee
19 and served on the Illinois Governor's Task Force on
20 School-to-Work Transition; Blouke Carus established the
21 International Baccalaureate North America; and he is
22 currently the chairman of the Illinois Valley
23 Education-to-Careers Partnership; therefore be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
26 we congratulate Blouke Carus on being named 2001
27 Manufacturing Man of the Year; and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to Blouke Carus.
