1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4 the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Dr. Sol J.
6 Rocke is retiring from his duties as village president of the
7 village of Hazel Crest, Illinois; and
8 WHEREAS, After serving for twenty years on the Planning
9 and Zoning Board, Dr. Sol J. Rocke was elected village
10 president in 1993, and has served the Village of Hazel Crest
11 for the past eight years; and
12 WHEREAS, Dr. Sol J. Rocke and his wife, Verva, have been
13 a part of Hazel Crest since 1955; and
14 WHEREAS, Dr. Sol J. Rocke has been an ardent campaigner
15 for economic development in the village utilizing all known
16 creative incentives to attract and retain businesses in the
17 village; and
18 WHEREAS, Dr. Rocke has seen the population of Hazel Crest
19 grow by eleven percent in a community that is land locked and
20 a part of the great suburban fabric of the Chicago Southland;
21 and
22 WHEREAS, Under Dr. Rocke's stewardship, great building
23 has occurred in the village including the construction of the
24 Dynasty Lakes Subdivision (Phases I through IV), the Carriage
25 Hills Subdivision, the South Creek Subdivision, Ridgewood
26 Estates, the Club, Bank Financial, Mi-Jack expansion, Full
27 Gospel Church, the Hoekstra Building, the Palmer Lake Venture
28 Building, Stonecreek Development, Graycor addition, Arden
29 Courts, Walgreens, Wendy's, and the South Suburban Hospital
30 expansion; and

1 WHEREAS, Dr. Sol J. Rocke has been a true friend and
2 supporter of education, advocating for full funding of our
3 education system; and
4 WHEREAS, Dr. Sol J. Rocke has been a staunch supporter of
5 a third airport at Peotone; and
6 WHEREAS, Dr. Rocke has supported law enforcement through
7 the formation of the multi-jurisdictional task force,
8 expanding the scope of the local adjudication system,
9 advocating the acquisition of "Niro" the Village Police dog,
10 authorizing the requisition of a speed trailer to curb
11 vehicular speeding, and providing full support to the Hazel
12 Crest Police Department in becoming an accredited agency;
13 therefore, be it
14 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16 we congratulate Dr. Sol J. Rocke on his retirement from
17 service as village president of the village of Hazel Crest,
18 Illinois and we wish him well in all of his future endeavors;
19 and be it further
20 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to Dr. Sol J. Rocke as an expression of our esteem.
