1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4 the lives of the citizens of Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, After more than 30 years as a Chicago Public
6 School teacher, Frederic Norden is turning in his lesson
7 plans, his graded papers, his atrium-like classroom, his
8 summer school request forms, his computer technology skills,
9 and his more than 300 accumulated sick days; and
10 WHEREAS, Frederic Norden began his teaching career at
11 Spencer Elementary School in Chicago's Austin neighborhood
12 and is retiring this year from neighboring John Hay Community
13 Academy; and
14 WHEREAS, During his career, Frederic Norden provided
15 students with learning in the classroom, laughter in the
16 halls, and friendship to all who entered his school; he
17 developed a reputation as a hard-working, responsible, and
18 dedicated teaching professional; no problem was too large, no
19 question too ridiculous, and no situation was too difficult
20 for Mr. Norden to handle; and
21 WHEREAS, For all the students who made up the mosaic of
22 Frederic Norden's teaching career, the one who listened in
23 class, those who asked questions, the ones who daydreamed,
24 those who laughed, and all the ones who learned were
25 fortunate to be guided by an unselfish individual whose
26 greatest joy was seeing them succeed; and
27 WHEREAS, Frederic Norden is loved and respected most for
28 his everlasting devotion to his family, which includes his
29 wife, Elaine, his children, David and Elizabeth, his
30 daughter-in-law, Aileen, and his grandchildren, Wyatt Austin
31 and Seamus Daniel; his commitment to helping his own children

1 realize their own dreams and achieve their goals serves as an
2 example to the generosity he brought to the classroom for
3 more than thirty years; and
4 WHEREAS, As Frederic Norden heads into the next stage of
5 life, his family, friends, co-workers, students, and former
6 students want to thank him for sharing his time, his talents,
7 his patience, his humor, his commitment, his concern, and his
8 willingness to always offer himself in times of need;
9 therefore, be it
10 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12 we congratulate Frederic Norden on his retirement from John
13 Hay Community Academy and for his dedication and commitment
14 in the field of education for the past 30 years; and we wish
15 him well in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
16 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to Frederic Norden as an expression of our esteem.
