1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to
3 recognize significant milestones in the lives of the people
4 of this State; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Gladys
6 Petersen of Lake of Egypt, Illinois is celebrating the 102nd
7 anniversary of her birth; and
8 WHEREAS, Gladys Petersen was born March 23, 1899 to
9 Charles and Olive Campbell Reynolds; and
10 WHEREAS, Gladys Petersen was the captain of her girl's
11 basketball team from the 8th grade through high school; she
12 also loved horse back riding and dancing; and
13 WHEREAS, Gladys Petersen was first married to Irvin
14 Singler, who preceded her in death; in 1950, Gladys Petersen
15 married A.W. "Pete" Petersen in Marion, Illinois at the First
16 United Methodist Church; she owned and operated Rosetta's
17 Beauty Shop in Marion, Illinois for many years; and
18 WHEREAS, At 102 years of age, Mrs. Petersen continues her
19 daily active regimen of exercise and reading Bible scripture;
20 and
21 WHEREAS, On March 23, 2001, Gladys Petersen happily
22 celebrated her 102nd birthday surrounded by her family,
23 friends, and neighbors; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
26 we congratulate Gladys Petersen on the occasion of her 102nd
27 birthday and extend to her our sincere best wishes for the
28 future; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to Gladys Petersen as an expression of our respect
