1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Dr. Larry Huffman, President of Kankakee
3 Community College, has announced his retirement after
4 fourteen years of dedicated service; and
5 WHEREAS, Dr. Huffman earned his Bachelor's degree and his
6 Master's degree from Western Illinois University; he earned
7 his Doctorate degree in higher education from the University
8 of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and
9 WHEREAS, Dr. Huffman previously served as student
10 services dean at Illinois Valley Community College and as
11 Associate Executive Director of the Illinois Community
12 College Trustees Association; during his time at Illinois
13 Valley Community College, Dr. Huffman was also an adjunct
14 faculty member at Illinois State University; and
15 WHEREAS, For ten years, Dr. Huffman served as Kankakee
16 Community College's academic vice president; during his time
17 as President of Kankakee Community College, Dr. Huffman has
18 chaired student services and curriculum committees of the
19 Illinois Community College Presidents Council, serving as
20 president of the Council last year; he has served on the
21 Illinois Community College Board's program advisory committee
22 and the finance advisory committee; Dr. Huffman has also
23 served as a consultant and program presenter for several
24 community colleges and universities; and
25 WHEREAS, Dr. Huffman is on the board of the
26 Iroquois-Kankakee Education to Careers Partnership, the
27 Kankakee United Way, the Economic Development Council of
28 Kankakee Count, the Riverside Medical Center Foundation, the
29 Kankakee River Valley Symphony Orchestra Association
30 Foundation, and the Kankakee Area Chamber of Commerce; Dr.
31 Huffman is also a member of the Kankakee Kiwanis Club; and

1 WHEREAS, In his final year as President, Dr. Huffman
2 oversees a community college with approximately 6,000
3 students and an annual budget of nearly $19 million;
4 therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7 we congratulate Dr. Larry Huffman on his retirement as
8 President of Kankakee Community College, and wish him well in
9 his future endeavors; and be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Dr. Larry Huffman.
