1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Delores Wanzo
3 recently won the Community Service Award at the 12th Annual
4 Kaskaskia College Minority Business Awards Banquet, held at
5 Kaskaskia College; and
6 WHEREAS, Delores Wanzo is a retired business
7 administrator from the Warren G. Murray Developmental Center;
8 she received her education from Lincoln Grade School,
9 Centralia High School, Centralia Jr. College, and Kaskaskia
10 College; she is a life member of Second Baptist Church, where
11 she is a church trustee and has served in the past as an
12 assistant superintendent of Sunday school, Sunday school
13 teacher, and president and secretary of the Women's League
14 Club; and
15 WHEREAS, Delores Wanzo has served on the Centralia City
16 School Board, the Centralia Recreation Board, the Centralia
17 Cultural Society's Executive Board, the Salvation Army Board,
18 and the Shagbark Girl Scout Council Board; she was a Charter
19 Member of the Centralia Correctional Center Citizen's
20 Advisory Board; she served as President of the Community
21 Resource Center, as a member of the Private Industry Council
22 Board of Marion County, as chairman of the West Marion County
23 Cancer Society and Chairman of Public Relations, and as State
24 President of the Illinois Association of Club Women and
25 Youth; and
26 WHEREAS, Ms. Wanzo is currently Vice-President of the
27 Regional Association of Club Women and Youth, Vice-President
28 of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, Secretary and member of the
29 Child Welfare Club, and a member of the Centralia Historical
30 Society Fund Raising Committee; in addition, she has served
31 on the Balloon Fest Committee for two years, and has been a
32 sponsor of the Jr. Girl's Club for over 30 years; and

1 WHEREAS, Delores Wanzo has received the Business and
2 Professional Women's "Woman of the Year" Award, the Jaycee's
3 Outstanding Citizen's Award, the AAUW's "Woman of the Year"
4 Award, the Southern District Illinois Association "Club Woman
5 of the Year" Award, the Illinois State Board of Education
6 "Volunteer" Award, and a resolution from the City of
7 Centralia for her 25 years of service on the Recreation
8 Board; and
9 WHEREAS, Delores Wanzo is the proud mother of Bobbie,
10 Bonnie, Candace, and Rich; and she is proud grandmother of
11 Megan; therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14 we congratulate Delores Wanzo on receiving the Community
15 Service Award at the 12th Annual Kaskaskia College Minority
16 Awards Banquet; and be it further
17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to Delores Wanzo.
