1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are honored to recognize acts of heroism to
4 the United States of America; and
5 WHEREAS, The soldiers of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 130th
6 Infantry, of Matoon and Danville, Illinois, were formally
7 welcomed home on February 19, 2001, from their return from
8 mobilization to federal service in Kuwait as part of
9 Operation Desert Spring; and
10 WHEREAS, Company A was deployed to Kuwait in September,
11 2000; their rotation was part of Operation Southern Watch
12 that included enforcement of the no-fly zones in Iraq and
13 protecting key assets in Southwest Asia; following the
14 deployment, the company demobilized at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin
15 in early February, 2001; and
16 WHEREAS, The soldiers of Company A were primarily
17 responsible for the personnel and equipment security at two
18 Patriot missile sites, a communication site, and a military
19 intelligence collection point; the soldiers were also
20 assigned to temporary missions, such as a quick reactionary
21 force for Camp Doha and aboard an Army's logistical support
22 ship; and
23 WHEREAS, Most of the deployment was spent under THREATCON
24 DELTA and CHARLIE, the two highest threat levels; this meant
25 that the soldiers of Company A were at a constant state of
26 readiness and restricted to their sites in case of a
27 terrorist attack; and
28 WHEREAS, Upon the return of Company A to its home in
29 Illinois, more than 250 family members and friends gathered
30 at the National Guard Armory in Mattoon to welcome home their
31 loved ones from a four-month peacekeeping tour in Kuwait;

1 therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4 we honor the soldiers of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 130th
5 Infantry, of Mattoon and Danville, Illinois, for their
6 dedicated service to the people of the United States of
7 America during the recent four-month peacekeeping tour that
8 provided security in Kuwait; and be it further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the soldiers of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 130th
11 Infantry as an expression of our esteem.
