 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  Members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives   are   pleased   to   recognize  significant
 4    milestone events in the lives of the citizens of the State of
 5    Illinois; and

 6        WHEREAS, SHALVA will present the Rodef Shalom (Pursuer of
 7    Peace) Award to Blooma Stark in recognition of her service to
 8    the Jewish community; and

 9        WHEREAS,  SHALVA  is  an  organization  that  exists   to
10    increase  awareness of domestic abuse in the Jewish community
11    and provides service for Jewish families experiencing  abuse;
12    and

13        WHEREAS,  Blooma  Stark  is  a partner at the law firm of
14    Rosenthal and Schanfield; she  volunteers  for  organizations
15    that  offer  the opportunity to "help people in the community
16    who often  need  the  most  protection  because  they  cannot
17    protect  themselves", and these include SHALVA, Hadassah, and
18    the  Council  of  Jewish  Elderly,  where  she  utilizes  her
19    expertise in elder care law to  help  create  guidelines  for
20    resolving ethical issues; and

21        WHEREAS,  Blooma Stark was born in Poland to survivors of
22    the Holocaust; she and her husband, Len Stark,  live  in  the
23    western suburbs of Chicago; and

24        WHEREAS,  SHALVA  will  be  hosting its Unity Dinner 2001
25    "Generation to Generation"  on  January  24,  2001  in  which
26    Blooma  Stark will  be awarded the Rodef Shalom Award for her
27    dedicated service to the Jewish community; therefore, be it

28        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
29    NINETY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
30    we  congratulate  Blooma  Stark  for  being awarded the Rodef
31    Shalom  Award  for  her  dedicated  service  to  the   Jewish

 1    community; and be it further

 2        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 3    presented to Blooma Stark as an expression of our esteem.
