1 AN ACT concerning legislative redistricting.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5 Legislative Redistricting Options Act.
6 Section 5. Additional redistricting plans. When a
7 Legislative Redistricting Commission is formed as provided in
8 Section 3 of Article IV of the Illinois Constitution, the
9 Commission by August 10 of that year shall prepare and file
10 with the Secretary of State 2 non-political legislative
11 redistricting plans, one based solely on the requirement that
12 legislative and representative districts must be compact and
13 one based solely on the requirement that legislative and
14 representative districts must be contiguous.
15 The Commission shall prepare and file the plans required
16 by this Act regardless of whether the Commission prepares and
17 files a redistricting plan under Section 3 of Article IV of
18 the Illinois Constitution.
