1 AN ACT in relation to highways.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by
5 adding Section 4-302.1 as follows:
6 (605 ILCS 5/4-302.1 new)
7 Sec. 4-302.1. Highway Projects Review Board.
8 (a) The Highway Projects Review Board is created. The
9 Board shall be composed 12 members of the General Assembly, 3
10 each appointed by the President of the Senate, the Speaker of
11 the House of Representatives, the Minority Leader of the
12 Senate, and the Minority Leader of the House of
13 Representatives. Members of the Board shall serve for their
14 terms of office, except that no appointment shall be for a
15 term of more than 3 years. If a Board member ceases to be a
16 member of the chamber of the General Assembly from which the
17 member was appointed, he or she shall be replaced by the
18 appropriate appointing authority.
19 (b) The Board shall:
20 (1) Monitor and evaluate the implementation of
21 State highway improvement plans.
22 (2) Report to the General Assembly and the Governor
23 annually regarding the progress of major road
24 construction in the State of Illinois.
