1 AN ACT concerning public safety.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Military Code of Illinois is amended by
5 adding Section 83.1 as follows:
6 (20 ILCS 1805/83.1 new)
7 Sec. 83.1. Nuclear generating facilities. It is
8 specifically the duty of the Governor to protect nuclear
9 generating facilities in Illinois from the threat of
10 continued terrorism in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks
11 on the United States that commenced on September 11, 2001. To
12 that end, the Governor must immediately deploy sufficient
13 military force to protect the citizens of Illinois from
14 terrorist attacks at all nuclear generating facilities
15 located in Illinois until the General Assembly, by joint
16 resolution, determines that the necessity for the deployment
17 of that military force is no longer necessary.
18 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
19 becoming law.
