 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3194

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 3194,  AS  AMENDED,
 3    with  reference  to  page and line numbers of House Amendment
 4    No. 1, on page 3, line 11,  by replacing  "orthotic  devices"
 5    with "temporary, orthoses"; and

 6    on  page  3, line 12, by replacing "prosthestic devices" with
 7    "orthoses and prostheses"; and

 8    on page 3, by replacing line 17 with  "training,  skill,  and
 9    competency as demonstrated through examinations that shall be
10    determined by the"; and

11    on  page  3, line 30, by replacing "Occupational therapy aid"
12    with "An aide in occupational therapy"; and

13    on page  4,  by  replacing  lines  27  through  31  with  the
14    following:
15        "Sec.   3.1.   Referrals.    A   registered  occupational
16    therapist or certified  occupational  therapy  assistant  may
17    consult  with,  educate,  evaluate,  and monitor services for
18    clients concerning non-medical  occupational  therapy  needs.
19    Implementation of direct"; and

20    on  page  5,  by  replacing  lines  16  through  32  with the
21    following:

 1        "(225 ILCS 75/3.3 new)
 2        Sec. 3.3.  Rules.  The Department shall promulgate  rules
 3    to define and regulate the activities of occupational therapy
 4    aides.

 5        (225 ILCS 75/11.1 new)
 6        Sec.   11.1.  Continuing   education   requirement.   All
 7    renewal applicants shall provide  proof  of  having  met  the
 8    continuing  competency requirements set forth in the rules of
 9    the Department.  At a minimum,  the  rules  shall  require  a
10    renewal  applicant to provide proof of completing at least 12
11    units of continuing competency activities during  the  2-year
12    licensing  cycle  for  which he or she is currently licensed.
13    The Department shall provide by rule for an  orderly  process
14    for  the reinstatement of licenses that have not been renewed
15    for failure to meet the continuing  competency  requirements.
16    The continuing competency requirements may be waived in cases
17    of extreme hardship as defined by rule.
18        The  Department  shall  establish  by  rule  a  means for
19    verifying  the  completion  of  the   continuing   competency
20    required   by  this  Section.     This  verification  may  be
21    accomplished  through  audits  of   records   maintained   by
22    licensees,  by  requiring the filing of continuing competency
23    certificates with the  Department,  or  by  any  other  means
24    established by the Department."; and

25    on page 6, by deleting lines 1 through 6.".
