1 AN ACT concerning public employees.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Public Labor Relations Act is
5 amended by adding Section 30 as follows:
6 (5 ILCS 315/30 new)
7 Sec. 30. Public employee candidacy. A public employer
8 may not terminate the employment of, force the resignation
9 of, invalidate the transfer of, demote, reprimand, or in any
10 other way penalize a public employee as a consequence of the
11 public employee's candidacy for any elective public office.
12 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
13 becoming law.
