 1        AN ACT concerning township officers.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The Township  Code  is  amended  by  changing
 5    Section 35-35 as follows:

 6        (60 ILCS 1/35-35)
 7        Sec.  35-35.  Filling  vacancy  in  township  offices  on
 8    township board. If a vacancy exists in any township office on
 9    the  township  board  and the vacancy is not filled within 60
10    days, the electors at a special township meeting may select a
11    qualified person to fill the vacancy and to serve  until  the
12    expiration  of  that  term.  At the meeting, the electors may
13    select the replacement officer trustee by voice vote, and the
14    person receiving  the  greatest  number  of  votes  shall  be
15    declared to be elected as the officer trustee.

17        Section  99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect upon
18    becoming law.
