1 AN ACT in relation to transportation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5 changing Section 18c-7201 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/18c-7201) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 18c-7201)
7 Sec. 18c-7201. Registration as a Rail Carrier.
8 (1) General Provisions. Except as provided in subsection
9 (2) of this Section, no person shall operate as a rail
10 carrier, and no person shall begin or continue construction
11 of any track or other facilities, other than the repair or
12 replacement of existing plant, for use in operations as a
13 rail carrier unless such person has registered with the
14 Commission as a rail carrier.
15 (2) Exceptions. Each rail carrier operating within the
16 State of Illinois on the effective date of this Chapter shall
17 automatically be deemed, as of that date, to have registered
18 as a rail carrier for purposes of this Section. Such
19 constructive registration shall expire on the 180th day after
20 the effective date of this amendatory Act of 1985.
