1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by changing
2 Section 11-1502.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
6 changing Section 11-1502 as follows:
7 (625 ILCS 5/11-1502) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-1502)
8 Sec. 11-1502. Traffic laws apply to persons riding
9 bicycles. Every person riding a bicycle upon a highway shall
10 be granted all of the rights and shall be subject to all of
11 the duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle by this
12 Code, except as to special regulations in this Article XV and
13 except as to those provisions of this Code which by their
14 nature can have no application. A person riding a bicycle is
15 an intended and permitted user of (1) that portion or segment
16 of any street or highway in Illinois on which bicycles are
17 permitted to ride under Article XV of Chapter 11 of the
18 Illinois Vehicle Code except where bicycles are specifically
19 prohibited by statute or local ordinance from using the
20 street or highway and signs to that effect are posed and (2)
21 that portion or segment of any street or highway in Illinois
22 which is designated as a bike lane or bike route.
