1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by changing
2 Section 3-606.1.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
6 changing Section 3-606.1 as follows:
7 (625 ILCS 5/3-606.1) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-606.1)
8 Sec. 3-606.1. Retired members of the General Assembly.
9 Upon receipt of a request from a retired member of the
10 General Assembly, accompanied by the appropriate application
11 and fee, the Secretary of State shall issue to such retired
12 member plates bearing appropriate wording or abbreviations
13 indicating that the holder is a retired member of the General
14 Assembly. Such plates may be issued for a 2 year period
15 beginning January 1st of each odd-numbered year and ending
16 December 31st of the subsequent even-numbered year.
17 "Retired member" means any individual who (a) has served
18 as a member of the General Assembly for a minimum of 2 6
19 years, or (b) is 62 or older, has served as a member of the
20 General Assembly for a minimum of 4 years, and has retired
21 prior to the convening of the 83rd from the General Assembly.
22 The fees and procedures relating to such plates for
23 retired members of the General Assembly shall be the same as
24 the fees and procedures applicable to personalized plates
25 issued under this Code.
