Short description: 
LYME DISEASE-DPH STUDY                                                     

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties  Law  of      
   the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois.  Requires the Department to      
   conduct a study regarding the prevalence, identification, evaluation,       
   and treatment of Lyme disease. Sets forth the matters to be studied.        
   Requires the Department to issue a report to the Governor and the           
   General Assembly by January 1, 2002.                                        
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
        Provides that the requirement that  the  Department  conduct  the      
   study is subject to appropriation.                                          
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 2.                                                
        Provides that the study include a determination  of  health  care      
   provider  awareness,  rather  than  attitudes,  regarding Lyme disease      
   identification and treatment.
