Short description: 
PROP TX-CORP ED PROP EXEMPT                                                

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the Property Tax Code.  In counties that classify property      
   and have more than 200,000 inhabitants, exempts from taxes certain          
   property of corporations which are exempt entities under paragraph (3)      
   of Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code (or its successor law)       
   when the property is used by the corporation for the following pur-         
   poses: (1) conducting continuing education for professional develop-        
   ment of personnel in energy-related industries; (2) maintaining a           
   library of energy technology information available to students and the      
   public free of charge; and (3) conducting research in energy and            
   environment, with results that could be accessible to persons in            
   education.                                                                  
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
          Deletes reference to:                                                
          35 ILCS 200/15-35                                                    
          Adds reference to:                                                   
          35 ILCS 200/14-15                                                    
        Deletes everything.  Amends  the  Property  Tax  Code.   Provides      
   that,  during calendar years 1999 and 2000, a certificate of error may      
   be executed for any  tax  year  in  counties  of  3,000,000  or  more,      
   provided that the error or mistake in the assessment was discovered no      
   more  than  3  years  after  the date on which the annual judgment and      
   order of sale for that tax year was first entered (now the certificate      
   of error must be executed no more than 3 years after that date).            
   Effective immediately.
