Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Amends the Workers' Compensation Act and the Workers'
Occupational Diseases Act. Provides that an employer may elect
coverage and retain the benefit of the exclusiveness of liability
under the Acts by obtaining a 24-hour health insurance policy meeting
specified criteria or participating in a fully or partially
self-insured 24-hour health plan meeting specified criteria. Effective
   immediately.
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.
Provides that a 24-hour policy described in the bill as
introduced may not require the employee to pay a portion of the
medical care in the case of any accidental injury, disease, or
disablement to which the Acts apply. Provides that a death benefit
under such a policy shall have a death benefit comparable to those
provided under the Acts (rather than a death benefit of $100,000).
