Short description: CEMETERY PRESERVATION Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the State Comptroller Act, the State Finance Act, the Township Code, the Illinois Municipal Code, the Cemetery Care Act, and the Cemetery Protection Act concerning cemetery preservation and maintenance. Creates the Cemetery Preservation Advisory Board and describes its functions and membership. Creates the Cemetery Preservation Fund and designates its sources of income and authorized uses. Details actions authorized by counties, townships, and municipalities in cleaning up and maintaining abandoned cemeteries. Authorizes a cemetery authority to access a cemetery it owns, including access through private property if necessary, to carry out its statutory powers and duties. Provides that an unauthorized person who willfully and knowingly removes a gravestone or other memorial of the deceased is guilty of a Class 2 felony.
