Short description:
GENDER VIOLENCE-CIVL LIABILITY

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Creates the Gender Violence Act. Provides that any person who has
been subjected to sex discrimination may bring a civil action for
damages, an injunction, or other appropriate relief against the person
who committed that act. Requires commencement of such an action
within 7 years after the right to bring the action first accrued.
FISCAL NOTE (Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts)
No dollar estimate of the the fiscal impact of HB 4407 on the
judicial branch can be provided, because it cannot be determin-
ed how many cases would be filed under the Gender Violence Act.
JUDICIAL NOTE (Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts)
There may be an increase in judicial workloads. However, it is
not possible to determine what impact the bill will have on
the number of judges needed in the State.
FISCAL NOTE (Office of the Governor)
It does not appear that HB 4407, as introduced, will have a
fiscal impact on the budget for the Office of the Governor.
This statement does not encompass any other agency or unit that
may fall under the purview of the Governor but which has its
own individual budget or funding source.
FISCAL NOTE (Dept. of Human Rights)
The Department of Human Rights anticipates no fiscal impact to
its operation if HB 4407 passes.
          FISCAL NOTE (Human Rights Commission)
There would not be a significant fiscal impact on the Human
Rights commission in regard to HB4407 due to the fact that
these cases would be litigated in civil court.
STATE MANDATES NOTE (Dept. of Commerce and Community Affairs)
HB 4407 does not create a State mandate.
