Short description: VEH CD-ORGAN DONOR AWARENESS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code and the State Finance Act. Creates the Organ Donor Awareness Fund. Provides for the issuance of Organ Donor Awareness license plates honoring Walter Payton. Provides that in addition to the appropriate registration fees, an applicant for the special plate shall be charged an original issuance fee of $25 and a fee of $25 for each renewal. Provides that of the additional original issuance and renewal fees, $23 shall be deposited into the Organ Donor Awareness Fund and $2 shall be deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund. Provides that subject to appropriation by the General Assembly and approval by the Secretary of State, 50% of the moneys in the Organ Donor Awareness Fund shall be paid as grants to the Regional Organ Bank of Illinois, and the remaining 50% of the moneys in that fund shall be paid to Mid-America Transplant Services.
