Short description: 
PRESCRIPTION DRUG INFO CARD                                                

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Creates the  Uniform  Prescription  Drug  Information  Card  Act.      
   Requires  health  benefit  plans  and administrators of those plans to      
   issue  to  covered  individuals  a  card  or  device   that   contains      
   prescription  drug  information  for  the  individual. The information      
   required to be contained on the card shall be the information required      
   by the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs.  Provides that      
   the Department of Insurance shall enforce the Act.                          
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Provides that a renewal of a health benefit  plan  is  deemed  to      
   occur on the anniversary date of the contract with the plan.  Provides      
   that  the  Department  of Insurance shall enforce the Act.  Authorizes      
   administrative fines of up to $250,000.  Effective January 1, 2001.         
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                
        Removes all substantive provisions.  Provides only a short title.      
        SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 2.                                                
        Creates the  Uniform  Prescription  Drug  Information  Card  Act.      
   Requires  health  benefit  plans  and administrators of those plans to      
   issue  to  covered  individuals  a  card  or  device   that   contains      
   prescription  drug  information  for  the  individual. The information      
   required to be contained on the card shall be the information required      
   by the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs as  of  May  1,      
   2000.   Provides  that  the  Department of Insurance shall enforce the      
   Act. Authorizes administrative fines of  up  to  $250,000.   Effective      
   January 1, 2001.
