House Sponsors: MEYER. Short description: COURTS-CHILD SUPPORT INSURANCE Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the State Finance Act and the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act. Requires the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts to establish a program to provide insurance coverage for the payment of child support in the event of an obligor's involuntary unemployment and resulting inability to make child support payments as required by an order for support. Requires the Administrative Office to contract with an insurance company authorized to do business in this State to provide the insurance coverage required under the program. Requires that an order for support include a requirement that the obligor pay to the clerk of the court a one-time fee to cover the cost of 3 years of child support insurance coverage under the program. Creates the Child Support Insurance Fund as a special fund in the State treasury, into which shall be deposited moneys collected by the circuit clerks for the purpose of funding the child support insurance program. Effective immediately.
