House Sponsors: CURRY,JULIE. Short description: SCH CD-DOC SCH DIST TO ALT SCH Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Safe Schools Law of the School Code. Provides that if a student (i) enrolls in a school district on or after the effective date of this amendatory Act, (ii) immediately before enrolling, attended school within the Department of Corrections school district, and (iii) was enrolled in a school district in this State immediately before being transferred into the Department of Corrections school district, then the student must be immediately transferred to an alternative school program. Provides that the student may not be returned to the regular educational program in the public schools of any school district until the student has attended an alternative school program for at least one semester. Effective July 1, 2000.
