Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
Amends the Illinois Financial Assistance Act for Nonpublic
Institutions of Higher Learning. Adds a caption to a Section
   concerning grants.
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.
          Deletes reference to:
          110 ILCS 210/3
          Adds reference to:
          110 ILCS 930/9 from Ch. 144, par. 2309
Deletes everything. Amends the Illinois Consortium for
Educational Opportunity Act. Increases the maximum amount of a grant
award under the Act from $10,000 annually to $15,000 annually.
   Effective July 1, 2000.
FISCAL NOTE, H-AM 1 (Board of Higher Education)
The number of awards made annually under the Act is dependent
upon the annual appropriation. In FY 2000, 157 maximum awards
of $10,000 and 6 partial awards of $5,000 were granted. If an
equal number of awards are granted in FY 2001, at $15,000 and
$7,500, an appropriation of $2.4 million would be required.
If the FY 2001 appropriation is less than $2.4 million, the
Board would either grant a fewer number of total awards or a
          fewer number of maximum awards.
