House Sponsors: NOVAK. Senate Sponsors: WALSH,L Short description: MOMENCE DAM TRANSFER ACT Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Momence Dam Transfer Act. Provides that the Department of Transportation is authorized to acquire the existing Momence dam and all existing structures, easements, and other privileges pertaining to it by donation from the City of Momence and other owners. Provides that the Department has full rights of ownership in the dam and its appurtenances, including the right to demolish, reconstruct, or dispose of the property. Effective immediately. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that the Department of Natural Resources, rather than the Department of Transportation, is authorized to acquire the existing Momence dam and, once the dam is acquired, shall have full rights of ownership in it. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that the department has the power to lease the property subject to the Illinois Procurement Code (rather than to lease the property for a period not to exceed 20 years).
