House Sponsors: HOLBROOK. Short description: AUTO DEALER RELOCATION ACT Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Creates the Automobile Dealer and Big Box Retailer Relocation Act. Prohibits a local agency from offering financial assistance to an automobile dealer or big box retailer that is relocating unless certain conditions are met. Requires the municipality or county to which the dealership or retailer is relocating to share certain occu- pation and use tax proceeds and distributions from the Local Govern- ment Tax Fund and the County and Mass Transit District Fund with the municipality or county from which the dealership or retailer is re- locating. Requires the Department of Revenue to adopt rules to im- plement the Act. Requires the Department to report to the General Assembly and the Governor on the implementation of the Act on or be- fore January 1, 2005. Preempts home rule. Provides for repeal on January 1, 2005.
